Korean-Canadian countertenor David DQ Lee is garnering acclaim among his peers for his powerful voice and exceptional talent. He has won numerous prestigious international competitions since the age of 19, including the Francisco Viñas International Singing Competition in Barcelona and the Musica Sacra International Competition in Rome. Lee's musical journey was sparked by the film "Farinelli," leading him to self-train and eventually earn a Bachelor of Music degree at the Vancouver Academy of Music under the mentorship of Canadian Mezzo-soprano Phyllis Mailing.
With a diverse repertoire spanning from Baroque to Contemporary, Lee effortlessly performs in operas and concerts worldwide. He has collaborated with renowned conductors and performed at prestigious venues such as La Scala Opera in Milan and the Vienna Volksoper in Austria. Lee has also participated in European tours, solo recitals, and international music festivals across continents.
Since 2006, Lee has made triumphant opera debut appearances across Europe, singing leading roles in Baroque and Contemporary Operas and Concerts at notable venues including the Hamburg State Opera and the Madrid Royal Opera.
